David Tangilanu is a 6'5", 285-pound defensive tackle from East Palo Alto, California, where he prepped at Menlo-Atherton High School. He earned PAL First-Team Defensive Line honors as both a junior and senior, along with PAL Lineman of the Year recognition. During his senior season, Tangilanu recorded 26 solo tackles, 47 assisted tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and seven sacks. Before joining BYU, he served a two-year mission in Toronto, Canada, for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Tangilanu, a true freshman, wears No. 58 for the Cougars.
