Chris Newell Jr. is a true freshman defensive back from Cleveland, Ohio, where he attended Glenville High School under head coach Ted Ginn Sr. At Glenville, Newell was a three-year starter in OHSAA Division IV competition who played both running back and defensive back. During the 2024 season, he rushed for 1,136 yards and 18 touchdowns. In the 2025 regular season, he recorded 64 tackles (22 solo), 16 tackles for loss, 6 quarterback pressures, 1 interception, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 fumble recovery. He helped lead Glenville to the 2023 and 2025 Division IV State Championships and the 2024 Division IV State Semifinals, plus four Regional Championships.
