Maxwell Wentz is a 6'4", 295-pound center from Huntington, West Virginia, who transferred to Ball State after three seasons at Dartmouth. At Huntington High School, he earned West Virginia Sports Writers Association Class AAA all-state honors and two-time All-Tri State first-team selections while serving as team captain. He played three years at tackle before shifting to center as a senior. At Dartmouth, Wentz appeared in nine games in 2023, six games in 2024, and 10 games in 2025. The Big Green offensive line ranked among the nation's top 20 in fewest sacks allowed across all three seasons, with Dartmouth leading all FCS teams at 0.50 sacks per game in 2023. The team finished in the Ivy League's top three rushing offenses each year.
