Nigel Nelson is a linebacker for Arkansas State who hails from Pensacola, Florida, where he attended Pensacola Catholic High School. A three-star recruit, Nelson finished his high school career with 1,563 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns, plus 166 tackles and 11 interceptions on defense. In 2025, his first season with the Red Wolves, he appeared in all 13 games with five starts, recording 54 total tackles (21 solo), 1.0 sack, 1.0 tackle for loss, and 2 passes defensed.
