Mays Pese is a sophomore defensive lineman for the Arizona Wildcats who hails from Santa Barbara, California, where he attended Bishop Garcia Diego High School. A three-star recruit, Pese committed to Arizona on June 26, 2024, after receiving offers from programs including Cal, Oregon State, and San Diego State. In his high school career, he compiled 162 total tackles over 33 varsity games while averaging 4.9 tackles per game, adding 18.0 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks. During the 2025 season, Pese recorded 24 total tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, and one quarterback hurry, earning Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year honorable mention recognition.
