Martell Hughes is a junior linebacker for Arizona State, standing 6'2" and weighing 220 pounds. From San Diego, California, he attended Madison High School, where he recorded 140 tackles across 24 games and five interceptions as a senior. Hughes entered campus in spring 2024 as a member of Barrett, The Honors College. During his freshman year, he appeared in 13 games, primarily on passing downs and special teams, accumulating 15 tackles and 138 defensive snaps. He earned Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week honors for his performance against UCF. In 2025, Hughes registered 39 total tackles, 16 solo tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and 2 pass deflections.
