Reese Poffenbarger is a quarterback from Middletown, Maryland, who has played at multiple collegiate levels. He redshirted at Old Dominion in 2021 before joining Albany, where he started all 15 games in 2023 and threw for 3,603 yards and 36 touchdowns—leading the FCS in passing yards and earning All-CAA Second Team honors. As a freshman in 2022, he started 11 games, completed nearly 62% of passes for 2,999 yards with 24 touchdowns and four interceptions, earning CAA Offensive Rookie of the Year. He appeared in four games at Miami in 2024 before transferring to North Texas, where he appeared in two games in 2025, completing 5-of-7 passes for 36 yards. He now joins Akron as a graduate transfer.
