Alex McLaughlin is a safety from Chandler, Arizona, who transferred to Washington in January 2025 from Northern Arizona. At NAU, he played two seasons and recorded 96 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, and two interceptions as a sophomore in 2024, earning unanimous All-Big Sky first team honors. In his first season with the Huskies, McLaughlin started all 2025 games and compiled 94 total tackles, 62 solo tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, two interceptions for 74 yards including one returned for a touchdown, and six pass deflections. He earned honorable mention All-Big Ten recognition from both coaches and media, and was named UW's Defensive Most Valuable Player.
