Gio Lopez is a 6'0", 203-pound quarterback from Madison, Alabama, who transferred to Wake Forest for the 2025 season after two years at North Carolina and South Alabama. As a redshirt sophomore at North Carolina in 2024, Lopez appeared in 11 games and completed 170 of 261 passes (65.1%) for 1,747 yards with 10 passing touchdowns, adding 133 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. He previously spent two seasons at South Alabama, where as a redshirt freshman he started 11 of 13 games and accumulated 2,557 passing yards with 18 touchdowns against five interceptions while rushing for 465 yards and seven touchdowns.
