TJ West is a 6'1", 195-pound wide receiver from Houston, Texas who transferred to UTSA from Texas Tech. At Humble High School, he earned first-team All-District 21-6A honors as a senior after recording 41 receptions for 685 yards and eight touchdowns, adding second-team all-district recognition as a junior. He accumulated over 1,600 receiving yards during his prep career and was rated a four-star prospect by Rivals, a three-star by recruiting services, and ranked No. 51 nationally at his position. After redshirting in 2023, West appeared in eight games across the 2024 and 2025 seasons, including catches for 15 yards against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and a 9-yard reception versus Oregon State in 2025. He also competed in track and field, posting personal bests of 10.74 in the 100 meters and 21.39 in the 200 meters.
