A three-star recruit from the 2024 class, Newell appeared in five games as a true freshman with one start, accumulating 14 total tackles and nine solo stops. In 2025, he played in all 13 contests and registered 13 total tackles, nine solo stops, one pass breakup, and 0.5 tackles for loss.
