At the high school level, he earned unanimous first-team All-District honors while playing on an offensive line for a team that went 10-2 overall and 5-0 in district play, reaching the state playoffs. During his tenure, quarterbacks threw for 3,527 yards and 43 touchdowns with a 73.2 completion percentage, while the team accumulated 1,343 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns.
