Lucas Samsula is a 6'4", 306-pound right defensive tackle from Plano, Texas who transferred to Utah from Wyoming. At Plano West HS, he earned First Team All-District 6-6A honors as a tight end during his senior year, recording 11 receptions for 239 yards and one touchdown with a 21.7 yards per reception average. He began his college career at Wyoming in 2023, redshirting that season after posting 14 receptions for 284 yards and two touchdowns, including a 75-yard reception against Central Michigan. A 2024 injury in fall camp cost him the entire season. In 2025, Samsula played in all 12 games for the Cowboys, tallying 15 tackles, 1.5 TFL, and 1.5 sacks before joining the Utes as a transfer.
