Alex VanSumeren is a nose tackle who transferred to USC as a redshirt senior. A four-star recruit from Garber High School in Michigan, he spent four seasons at Michigan State from 2022 to 2024, recording 71 tackles with 4.5 for loss and 3 sacks across 28 appearances with 24 starts. In 2025, his final year with the Spartans, VanSumeren posted 52 tackles, including 2 for loss and 1.5 sacks. He earned placement on the Big Ten Fall All-Academic Team in both 2023 and 2024, and completed a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Michigan State in fall 2025.
