Alonza Barnett III is a redshirt senior quarterback at UCF who transferred from James Madison. At Grimsley High School in Whitsett, North Carolina, he was a First Team All-State selection and 2020-21 4A State championship game MVP. Barnett enrolled at JMU in January 2022 and redshirted as a freshman. In 2024, he started 12 games and completed 213-of-355 pass attempts for 2,598 passing yards and 26 touchdowns with four interceptions, adding 135 carries for 442 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns. During his redshirt junior season at JMU, Barnett started all 14 games, earning Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year honors. He completed 216-of-370 attempts for 2,806 passing yards and 23 touchdowns, rushed 127 times for 589 yards and 15 touchdowns, and accounted for 3,395 total offensive yards and 38 total touchdowns. He led the Dukes to a College Football Playoff appearance.
