Owen Simpson is a kickoff specialist for UAB from Birmingham, Alabama, where he attended Vestavia Hills High School. A three-star recruit who chose the Blazers over UCF, Simpson recorded 68 total touchbacks as a varsity player and averaged 58.8 yards per kickoff in high school. In 2025, his first season at UAB, Simpson appeared in all 12 games and produced 26 touchdowns on 59 attempts while averaging 58.8 yards per kickoff and accumulating 570 total yards. He posted a season-best 64.6 yards per kickoff against No. 15 Tennessee on September 20.
