At Aledo HS, Dempsey played four seasons of varsity football and compiled 107 tackles, 27.0 tackles for a loss, and 13.5 sacks. As a senior, he recorded 30 tackles with 7.0 tackles for a loss and three sacks. Dempsey held offers from 16 programs including Pittsburgh, Memphis, and UTSA before joining Tulsa.
