Malik Esquerra is a safety from Killeen, Texas, who attended Shoemaker High School. The three-star recruit committed to Texas Tech on July 15, 2023. After redshirting in 2024, Esquerra appeared in all 14 games during the 2025 season as a redshirt sophomore, primarily on special teams and as a reserve. He played defensive snaps in 12 games and logged 139 defensive snaps according to Pro Football Focus.
