Mason Phillips is a redshirt freshman quarterback for the Tennessee Volunteers who hails from Kodak, Tennessee, where he attended Northview Academy. As a high school senior, he threw for 1,871 yards and 18 touchdowns while adding 838 rushing yards and 13 scores, earning 2024 4A TFCA All-State Team honors. Phillips made his collegiate debut on September 6 against ETSU, recording two rushing attempts for 18 yards in the fourth quarter. He appears on the 2025 SEC Academic Honor Roll.
