Avery Powell is a free safety from East Orange, New Jersey, who attended St. Peter's Prep before playing two seasons at Missouri State. As a freshman in 2023, he recorded 50 total tackles including 32 solo tackles and earned Phil Steele first team Freshman All-America honors. In 2024, Powell appeared in all 12 games for the Bears, tallying 38 total tackles with 27 solo tackles. He transferred to Temple for the 2025 season, starting at free safety and appearing in every game. Powell has recorded 54 total tackles including 37 solo tackles, one interception, and three fumble recoveries, tying for first in the American Conference in fumbles recovered.
