Ed Small, a 6'0" wide receiver from Anderson High School in Austin, Texas, joined TCU as a four-star recruit ranked 462nd nationally. During his freshman season in 2025, Small appeared in six games with one start against Colorado before suffering an injury that sidelined him temporarily. He returned for the Alamo Bowl victory over USC. Small caught 16 passes for 186 yards and 2 touchdowns on the season, including a six-reception, 101-yard performance against Kansas State and six receptions for 45 yards and two scores against Abilene Christian, earning Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors.
