Aakil Washington is a defensive end from Atlanta, Georgia, who transferred to SMU as a redshirt senior for the 2025 season. Washington previously played at Liberty, where he appeared in 38 games over four seasons and recorded 77 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and 5.5 sacks. He then transferred to South Alabama, where in 2024 he played in all 13 games with 10 starts, tallying 41 tackles, a half sack against Troy, and a broken-up pass against Western Michigan. Washington was medically redshirted in 2025.
