Joey Fernandez is a kicker and punter for San José State, standing 5'11" and weighing 180 pounds. The junior from Hollister, California, transferred to SJSU after two seasons at Monterey Peninsula College, where he punted and kicked for the Pirates. At Monterey Peninsula, Fernandez made a 36-yard game-winning overtime field goal against Foothill on 8/30, won the 2025 San Jose Prospect Showcase kickoff competition, and captured the 2025 Sailor Kicking NorCal Competition. He served as a two-year captain and helped lead the team to the American Bowl Championship in 2024. In high school, Fernandez set the Hollister HS field goal distance record and earned CalHiSports All-State Finalist honors as a combo specialist.
