Sam Carpenter is a placekicker from Foxborough, MA, who attended Foxborough High School as a three-year letterman under Coach Jack Martinelli. He compiled 128 points during his varsity career on 19-of-27 field goals and 71-of-76 extra points, with a senior season that included 71 points and an 88% touchback rate on kickoffs. Carpenter joined Pitt as a training camp walk-on in 2023, appearing in one game against Wofford while preserving a redshirt after converting his lone extra-point attempt. He played in one game in 2024 against Youngstown State, converting his only placement attempt. During the 2025 season, Carpenter served as Pittsburgh's primary kickoff specialist, converting 35 of 65 kickoffs for touchbacks and making his first career field goal, a 24-yarder against Notre Dame on November 15. He earned academic all-ACC honors. Carpenter is now in the transfer portal at Sam Houston.
