Sebastian Cruz is a defensive back for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. The 5'11", 180-pound true freshman from Fleming Island, Florida, was a three-star recruit in the 2026 class. At Fleming Island High School under coach Tom MacPherson, Cruz played defensive back and running back, recording 114 tackles, 12 pass breakups and five interceptions as a junior. He scored six rushing touchdowns in 2025 and earned all-district honors as a utility player in 2024. Cruz also competed in track and field, capturing FHSAA 3A District 3 championships in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash and 4x100 relay, and was named All-First Coast on defense by Jacksonville.com.
