Rhys Phillips is a tight end for the Rice Owls who stands 6'2" and weighs 234 pounds. The Katy, Texas native played at Tompkins High School, where he was a two-time All-District 19-6A selection. In his senior season, he caught 22 passes for 278 yards and seven touchdowns. Over his prep career, Phillips recorded 33 receptions for 487 yards and 10 scores, finishing as Tompkins' career leader at tight end. A three-time academic all-district honoree, he was named to Dave Campbell's Texas Football Top 300. Phillips did not appear in games during the 2024 and 2025 seasons and is returning as a redshirt sophomore in 2026.
