Caden VerMaas is a 6'0", 190-pound viper from Omaha, Nebraska who transferred to Rice from Nebraska. At Millard North High School, he earned first-team Lincoln Journal Star Super-State honors as a senior and second-team All-Nebraska recognition. Over his prep career, he accumulated 93 tackles, five interceptions, and four forced fumbles while compiling more than 3,600 all-purpose yards and 46 touchdowns. His senior season included 32 tackles, 1,408 all-purpose yards, and nine rushing touchdowns, leading the Mustangs to a 6-5 record. At Nebraska, VerMaas appeared in two games on special teams while retaining his redshirt, seeing action against Akron and Houston Christian.
