Gabe Russo is a punter who transferred to Pittsburgh in January 2026 from Idaho State. At the University of Idaho State in 2025, Russo handled punting duties in all 12 games, recording 38 punts for 1,761 yards at a 46.3-yard average. He earned Second Team All-Big Sky honors and was named a semifinalist for the FCS Punter of the Year award. His longest punt measured 74 yards against Southern Utah, and he placed 17 punts inside the 20-yard line. Russo previously walked on at Auburn from 2023–24 without appearing in games. In high school at Montgomery Catholic, he ranked no. 3 nationally among prep punters according to Kohl's Kicking and played in the Under Armour All-America Game.
