Cortez Thomas is a safety from Lexington, Mississippi, who attended Holmes County Central High School. A consensus four-star recruit in the 2025 class, Thomas earned the top-300 national recruit rankings recognition at No. 125 overall and was rated the No. 4 prospect in Mississippi by national outlets. During his high school career, he recorded 56 tackles, three interceptions and 13 passes defended as a senior in 2024. Over four years, Thomas accumulated 251 all-purpose yards with three receiving touchdowns while lettering in track. He was named 2021 Holmes County Central Rookie of the Year and to the 2024 Clarion Ledger Dandy Dozen. Thomas chose Ole Miss over offers from Colorado, Mississippi State and Texas A&M.
