Robby Preckel is a sophomore running back for Northwestern who was converted from tight end prior to joining the program. A three-star prospect from Lafayette High School in Wildwood, Missouri, he committed to Northwestern on June 24, 2024, selecting the Wildcats over Air Force, Navy, and North Dakota State. During his 2025 first year, Preckel appeared in 12 of 13 games and recorded 42 rushing attempts for 149 yards alongside one reception for four yards. His performance peaked against Illinois on November 29, when he posted a career-high 22 carries for 82 yards and added one reception for four yards.
