Henry Helms is a redshirt junior placekicker for Northwestern who hails from Chicago, Illinois, where he attended Saint Ignatius College Prep. At the prep level, he served as kicker and punter while also playing defensive back, earning First Team All-Conference honors at that position as a senior and serving as team captain in 2022. Helms committed to Northwestern in March 2023 as a preferred walk-on. During his first year in 2023, he appeared in eight games as the team's primary kickoff specialist, recording 31 kickoffs for 1,719 yards and two touchbacks. He redshirted in 2024 and was named Academic All-Big Ten. In 2025, he appeared in all 13 games and handled kickoff duties, including against Western Illinois on September 5, where he produced two touchbacks on eight attempts.
