Trey Porter is a redshirt senior linebacker from Ankeny, Iowa who joined Northern Illinois as a three-star recruit in the 2022 class. Porter has appeared in all 12 games during the 2025 season, primarily on special teams units covering kickoff, kickoff return, punt and punt return duties, while also rotating in at defensive back. He recorded 4 total tackles with 3 solo stops this season, including 2 tackles against Maryland and 2 against San Diego State. In 2024, Porter played in all 13 games and accumulated 8 tackles, 6 solo. He was credited with one special teams tackle in NIU's contest at Notre Dame. A business major, Porter earned all-state honors in 2020 and 2021 at Centennial High School and was a team captain his senior year.
