Zion Smith is a left guard for the North Carolina Tar Heels and a true freshman from Townsend, Delaware. He attended DeMatha Catholic High School in Maryland, where he started four years at left tackle under head coach Bill McGregor. Smith earned First Team All-WCAC honors in both 2024 and 2025, serving as a team captain during his senior year. His prep resume includes an 11-0 record and WCAC Championship as a senior, a 10-1 season as a junior, a 9-2 record as a sophomore, and a 10-2 mark as a freshman. DeMatha won a state championship during Smith's junior year and recorded 21 consecutive wins dating to 2024.
