Demon June, a three-star recruit from Jacksonville High School, joined North Carolina as an early enrollee. In his 2025 freshman season, June appeared in all games and started nine, including his debut against Richmond. He led the Tar Heels with 464 rushing yards on 84 carries and 2 touchdowns, adding 17 receptions for 159 yards and 1 receiving touchdown. June recorded 148 yards on 14 carries with a touchdown against Richmond, the most rushing yards by a freshman running back since Michael Carter in 2017.
