A consensus five-star recruit ranked eighth nationally in the 2024 class, Nwaneri redshirted during his 2024 season with the Tigers, appearing in four games and recording two tackles, one TFL, and one sack. In 2025, his redshirt freshman year, he played all 13 games with nine starts and registered 27 tackles, 5.0 TFLs, 2.5 sacks, one pass breakup, and two fumble recoveries—one returned 29 yards for a touchdown.
