JJ Buchanan, a 6'3" receiver from Henderson, Nevada, transferred to Michigan after one season at Utah. As a freshman in 2025, he appeared in all 13 games with seven starts and caught 26 passes for 427 yards and five touchdowns, earning his first varsity letter. He led all freshman tight ends nationally in receiving yards that season. Buchanan made his collegiate debut against UCLA on August 30, 2025, and recorded a career-high 74 receiving yards against Kansas State on November 22. He finished his Utah tenure with four receptions and a touchdown in the Las Vegas Bowl against Nebraska on December 31, 2025.
