Eli Coppess is a 6'1", 213-pound safety from Pickerington, Ohio, where he attended Pickerington North High School as a team captain. A redshirt senior for Miami (OH), Coppess was a three-star recruit in the 2022 class. He redshirted his first year, then appeared in seven games in 2023. During the 2024 season, he played in 12 games, recording 15 tackles and earning Academic All-MAC honors and Special Teams Player of the Year. In 2025, Coppess played in 13 games with one start against Western Michigan, totaling 17 tackles and three interceptions for 40 yards.
