A three-star recruit from Horizon High School in Scottsdale, Arizona, he was ranked as the state's No. 22 prospect by recruiting services. At the high school level, Markovich earned four Player of the Game honors across the 2021, 2023, and 2024 seasons. He recorded 45 receptions for 551 yards as a senior, including a 52-yard catch, and caught nine total touchdown passes, seven coming in his final year. In his 2025 freshman campaign, Markovich appeared in 10 games for Massachusetts, recording 7 receptions for 38 yards with a long of 16 yards against Ohio on November 18.
