Tyler Thompson is a redshirt junior linebacker/edge rusher from Cary, North Carolina, who transferred to Louisville from the University of North Carolina. A four-star prospect out of Panther Creek High School, Thompson accumulated 191 tackles, 39 sacks, and 84 tackles for loss across three varsity seasons. In 2025, his first year with the Cardinals, Thompson posted 7.0 sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss while finishing eighth in ACC statistics. He registered 25 total tackles on the season, including a career-high 3.0 sacks against Stanford and four tackles each against Virginia and NC State.
