A 3-star recruit in the 2025 class, Stephens recorded 700 receiving yards on 46 receptions with eight touchdowns before joining Kent State. As a freshman in 2025, he appeared in two games, recording one carry for 31 yards and one touchdown rushing. He also returned four kickoffs for 81 yards with a 20.3-yard average. Stephens scored a 31-yard rushing touchdown against Buffalo during the season.
