After missing his first two seasons due to injury, DeShields started 11 games in 2025 as a redshirt sophomore. He completed 136 of 240 passes for 2,030 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions while posting a 150.0 passing efficiency rating. DeShields also rushed 61 times for 36 yards and 3 touchdowns.
