Lucas Osada is a placekicker from Charlottesville, Virginia, who played at Woodberry Forest High School under head coach Jackson Matteo. A recruiting services No. 7 punter and No. 47 player in Virginia, Osada made 8-of-13 field goals in high school, including 8-of-10 from inside 50 yards, and recorded 70 touchbacks on kickoffs. He attended North Carolina as a true freshman in 2024, serving as the team's kickoff specialist with 59 kickoffs for 3,709 yards and 39 touchbacks. Osada transferred to Illinois with three years of eligibility remaining. In 2025, he made his Illini debut on September 13 against Western Michigan with one kickoff for 65 yards, then appeared in the Music City Bowl victory over No. 23 Michigan on December 30 with two kickoffs including one touchback.
