The redshirt senior appeared in nine games with three starts during the 2025 season, recording 75 carries for 382 yards and three rushing touchdowns, along with nine receptions for 54 yards. In 2024, he played all 13 games and earned Academic All-Big Ten honors. He rushed for a career-best 172 yards and three touchdowns against Northwestern on November 30, 2024, which marked his first 100-yard game. Laughery was a three-star recruit in the class of 2022 and graduated from Illinois in August 2025.
