E.J. Lightsey is a 6'2", 230-pound weak-side linebacker for Georgia Tech who transferred from the University of Georgia. Originally a three-star recruit in the 2022 class, Lightsey redshirted at Georgia in 2022 after appearing in four games, then missed the 2023 season due to injury. He joined Georgia Tech in 2024, appearing in nine games with two starts and recording 22 tackles and a 21-yard interception return for a touchdown against NC State. In 2025, his redshirt junior season, Lightsey established himself as a defensive leader, starting all 13 games and recording 76 tackles (39 solo), one tackle for loss, one quarterback hurry, and one pass breakup. He posted a career-high 12 tackles against No. 4 Georgia and totaled 28 tackles across three games versus nationally ranked opponents.
