JJ Kohl, a 6'7" quarterback from Ankeny, Iowa, arrives at Florida International as a transfer from App State. The four-star recruit played at Iowa State before joining the Mountaineers, where he saw limited action in 2024. In 2025 at App State, Kohl threw for 1,465 yards and 12 touchdowns against 2 interceptions across eight games, completing 133 of 216 attempts. He also rushed 30 times for 50 yards and 1 touchdown. Notably, he posted 309 yards and 4 touchdowns versus Georgia State and threw a season-long 68-yard pass against Oregon State. Kohl is a redshirt junior for the 2026 season.
