Ja'Vaughn Hargett is an offensive lineman from Durham who attended Southern Durham High School. The 6'5", 260-pound prospect verbally committed to East Carolina on June 21, 2025, and officially enrolled early in January 2026. During his prep career, Hargett appeared in 35 games and recorded 81 career pancake blocks, including at least one in 29 of those contests. As a senior, he played in 11 games with 27 pancake blocks as Southern Durham's offense produced 5,499 total yards and 49 touchdowns. Hargett earned MaxPreps Player of the Game honors on October 24, 2025, and was rated a three-star prospect. He received offers from multiple programs before selecting ECU over Appalachian State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, and others. Hargett is currently a returning member of the Pirates roster.
