Evan Smith is a left cornerback who transferred to Duke as a graduate student from Northwestern. The 5'10", 185-pound defender from Birmingham, Alabama appeared in 32 games across four seasons with the Wildcats, recording 42 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one interception, and four pass breakups. Smith registered five tackles against Indiana in 2024, his career high, and earned two Academic All-Big Ten honors. He recorded his first career interception against Miami (Ohio) in 2024 and added pass breakups versus Miami (Ohio), Washington, Indiana, and Nebraska. At Oak Mountain High School, Smith was a four-year starter who earned first-team all-state honors and Shelby County Player of the Year in 2021.
