He lettered three seasons at Arbor View High School under head coach Marlon Barnett and earned recognition as a three-star prospect by recruiting services. national outlets ranked him No. 17 in Nevada, while recruiting services placed him No. 21 in the state. Boyd was a two-time all-league honoree and helped lead Arbor View to four playoff appearances, reaching the state championship game as a senior. He also lettered in basketball and wrestling.
