Gus McGee is a 6'5", 250-pound tight end from Newburyport, Massachusetts who transferred to Charlotte from San Diego State. He played in two games for the Aztecs in 2021 and appeared in the season opener in 2022 before arriving at Charlotte. At Charlotte, McGee appeared in all 12 games in 2023, primarily on special teams, and caught one pass that season. In 2024, he played in all 12 games again, accumulating 133 snaps with a 70.0 Pro Football Focus grade on special teams, and caught two passes for nine yards. During 2025, his redshirt senior season, McGee started nine of 12 games and led team tight ends in snap count.
