Quimari Shemwell is a defensive back from Los Angeles who attended Long Beach Poly High School. A three-star recruit, he recorded 38 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss, and 1.0 sack as a senior, also forcing two fumbles and recording 11 pass breakups. He played his freshman season at Utah in 2024, appearing in all 12 games on defense and special teams. Shemwell transferred to California and played in 10 games during his 2025 sophomore campaign, tallying seven tackles and one pass breakup, including four tackles against SMU and three tackles with a pass breakup in the Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl.
